David E. Thurmon, 53, of Dyersburg, died Saturday, March 14, 2009 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
He was an employee of First Citizens National Bank, beginning in 1974, and held many positions throughout his career including senior programmer, assistant vice president and data processing manager, vice president and information systems manager, senior vice president and vice president I Series officer; he was a charter member and president of Dyersburg Dogwood Kiwanis Club, a minor league baseball coach, and served in the Terrific Kids program, Dyersburg Christmas Parade, as an American Cancer Society Relay for Life volunteer, Dogwood Dash committee member and Tennessee Leukemia Society volunteer; he was a graduate of Bank Administration Institute's School for Bank Administration at the University of Wisconsin, Dyersburg/Dyer County Leadership, Kiwanis Leadership Development Program, attended Dyersburg State Community College and was a member of the Church of Christ.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at West Dyersburg Church of Christ with Bro. Parks Thurmon and Wendell West officiating. Burial will be in Dyer County Memorial Gardens in Dyersburg.
The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. today at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.
Survivors include a daughter, Alli Rose Thurmon of Memphis; two sons, Drew Thurmon of Dyersburg and Shane Thurmon of Newbern; his parents, Parks and Polly Thurmon of Dyersburg; a sister, Martha Ruth Watkins of Dyersburg; and a brother, Larry Parks Thurmon of Clinton.
Pallbearers will be Drew Thurmon, Shane Thurmon, Jason Watkins, Terry Seaton, Michael Thurmon and Brandon Thurmon. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Agee, Katie Winchester, Judy Long, Jerry Cantrell, Shirley McGuire, Tina Kirby, Vickie Sansom, Debbie Dosier and Angie Lawrence.
